iPhone... the Mac Tablet we've been waiting for?I love my iPhone! It took the place of my Treo600 which was a very good smartphone. And had Palm consistantly upgraded the OS and hardware to what the public wanted the iPhone would have had a much harder struggle entering and changing the smartphone/cellphone market. But this isn't about Palm, it's about the iPhone.

The iPhone, Apple's first attempt at a cellphone/tablet. Apple most likely wouldn't call it a tablet but it will be hard to ignore the "tablet mac" aspects once third-party applications become available on July 11th. With the right application the iPhone will allow system admins to remotely control servers, monitor security systems, remotely control/help individual units within a network. Though it won't have the raw computational power of a desktop Mac or even a Macbook it would be more of an accessory to a users primary computer. With the proper amount of built-in storage it could be used as a portable account manager/a "profile pad". Plug it into your computer and run your personal document and user profile on any system that's compatible with that profile. This has been done for desktops using a USB flash drive, the same could be done using the iPhone with it having the ability to manipulate data within the profile when not connected to the desktop/laptop unit. This would be an invaluable resource for business personel on the road who need to make changes to information "on the fly" or don't have the time to access the resources from a desktop.

The truth is that this could probably be set-up for any smartphone that can hold 8 to 16gb in storage but the iPhone, with it's mini-OSX and cross-platform connectivity is the most likely candidate for functions of this sort.

Maybe I or someone with programing abilities could make this (at a relitively decent price)...

Those are my techno-thoughts for the moment.
