I guess it was a good day...The U.S. economy is in the shiter, people are losing their homes, and things are simply tough all over.

Even at work things are a bit hectic and nerves are streched thin as we approach the start of another racing season. Everyone has been working hard and has been doing their part and then some. But is was a bit of a surprise that Will, the GM called me to his office for a talk. Considering the amount of work we've all had, I was expecting a change or something to be added to an existing project. Instead what I heard was recognition for the work I've been doing and even more surprising - a $2 an hour raise!

A raise... granted I wasn't expecting a raise or even the possibility for a raise for quite sometime as the word from others was that raises simply don't happen after your first year. It would seem that they do happen for those that do a good job and don't bitch and moan about everything that happens around them.

Though I try to keep my head about me, sometime there are things worth whinning about at work but why bitch about it when you still have work to do?

This was an unexpected reward for a job well done. It made for a good day and a boost in self-esteem knowing that what I do is appreciated.
