Rebirth of the Duo...

Well, much of the Apple/Mac news this weekend circulated around the 1 Billionth iPhone app download (no big deal unless you're one that makes the download). The other news floating around was about how Apple's head honcho Steve Jobs, though not active as the CEO was still very active with regards to product development and the long rumored "iTablet". This supposedly is going to be a 10" ipod touch/iphone style device featuring more "gesture based" control instead of a keyboard. And it will signal Apple's entry into the so-called netbook market.

That sounds fine and dandy but as SJ and current CEO Tim Cook have stated, Apple isn't going to produce a $500 piece of crap netbook. What's more likely is that if the iTablet rumors are true I'd expect that it will have a 10" screen, the iPhone/iPod Touch OS and certain built-in ports (ie usb) as well as wifi, ethernet and possibly some form of media card slot (express card would cover it). It would also have to the surprise of everyone have a "docking station". Where this lightweight device becomes a desktop computing machine. This won't have the same power as the Macbook Air but it won't be your standard netbook either. On the otherhand, maybe it will have the same power as the MBA, rip the guts from an MBA slap a touchscreen on it and give it the iPhone OS and just like that, iTablet.

That's enough speculation for now. Come June & July the iPhone OS and hardware will be upgraded (sweet) and the "One More Thing" may be what everyone has been waiting for.

PEACE.
