To give or help unselfishly...

This past week, I ordered a kite. The reason for this order goes back to last spring when I gave "Shrader" a parafoil that I had never used. He is known for being a bit of a goof and one of the hardest working people at PM. He's also known for flying kites on his days off - weather permiting. He's no expert but he enjoys the activity, which is why I gave him the kite I had never flown.

From that point forward, he has vowed to never fly another "regular" kite. He's actually flown the parafoil to the point of breaking the primary lines and replacing them with fishing line just so he can continue to enjoy the activity. Which brings us back to the start. Shrader, growing tired of repairing his parafoil asked if there was anything that I could do to help and I said that I would look into it. I basically found stuff that could repair his kite, no biggie. But over the course of a weekend all that changed as he met into guy in the parking lot, flying a parafoil powerful enough to pull him on a skateboard. Shrader didn't want a repair anymore... he wanted the big kite! After he told me that, my mission was to find him a bigger, stronger, man-lifting parafoil. And I did too! The HQ Powerkites Rush3 250 - 2 times as large as the previous parafoil with potential lifting power  . I read a few reviews, then jumped on YouTube and found a video of a guy showing how easy it was to control the kite, even how with the right wind it could lift you for an 8ft jump. That's all Shrader needed to see. He said I WANT THAT ONE! So I ordered it for him.

It's been a long week waiting for it's arrival but it finally arrived today. You'd have thought it was christmas looking at his face. The joy of a child and the impatience of a grown man who can't get the box open fast enough. Once the box was open, we took everything out of the bags, the look on his face was priceless as I started unrolling the parafoil, explaining that it's twice folded to fit in it's backpack. It's Shrader's friday and he couldn't clock out fast enough!

What did I get out of this... a finders fee? A little extra cash because I inflated the price? Nothing of the sort. What I got was some of that happiness bursting off of Shrader. Helping him and knowing how much fun he's going to have brightened up my day! I couldn't ask for more, for the day.
